The COOPEC RESOPP was born in 2008 and represents the financial arm of the Pastoral and Farmers Organizations’ Network (RESOPP), which forms today the most important union of rural cooperatives recognized in Senegal. Incentive to the renewal of the rural cooperative movement, this network counts a little more than 30 000 members (family farm-workers, breeders, converters, etc.), split in 6 cooperatives situated in 7 departments with different agro-ecological conditions. Each union focuses on « base cooperatives’ units » called antennas, situated at rural communities’ level. In each village reached, the cooperative has set up a village Section, which ensures a proximity service and builds up a frame for the participation to the system management.

The Microfact Workshop on the performance indicators’ analysis, which was held in Thiès, Senegal, from 10th to 12th of September 2013, has allowed gathering up 6 of these agencies, i.e. Mbour, Tivaoune, Louga, Podor, Sédhiou and Kpoungheul. The fact of having representatives of each agency as well as some members of the COOPEC Management at the workshop has allowed having some very rich discussions and debates. The participants have hugely appreciated the training, as shows this comment: “I was surprised. I thought this workshop was just another session on financial analysis. But it goes beyond and has quite another approach. This calls us to mind and will make us look differently at ratios as from now. »
