New: Handbook on Social Performance Indicators for Microinsurance
Microinsurance pioneers and practitioners frequently underline their social focus but are often unable to support these intentions with figures and adapted reports. The handbook 'Social Performance Indicators for Microinsurance' allows practitioners to go beyond good intentions by monitoring and documenting their social performance and improving their operations accordingly. The handbook is the result of a two year sector wide consensus building process led by the Microinsurance Network's Performance Working Group in which a fair representation of microinsurance practitioners took the lead role. It is published by ADA in close collaboration with BRS, GIZ, Grameen Crédit Agricole Microfinance Foundation and the Microinsurance Network. -

Microfact workshop in South Africa, Cape town
Our last workshop on the analysis of financial performance indicators, was held in Cape Town, South Africa from November 5th till the 7th of 2012. Thirteen microfinance organizations were present at the training: nine microfinance institutions, three entities from the investment industry and one trying to start an MFI.
The challenge for this workshop was surely the diversity and uneven levels of knowledge of the participants. And yet, our two trainers appreciated the active participation of partakers, and the feedback from participants was very positive. Most of them liked the review of key indicators and shared the intent to exploit the tools in their institutions and network members: "The new knowledge and tools available will certainly improve the way we provide services to our clients ".
