Workshop on Financial Performance Indicators for Microinsurance - Cameroon, July 2011

 

The Microfinance Academy Cameroon organises a three-day workshop on financial performance indicators for microinsurance providers in collaboration with ADA, BRS, GIZ and the Microinsurance Network. The workshop will be held in Limbe, Cameroon  from 19 to 21 July 2011.

 

This workshop aims to:  

  • Strengthen awareness towards performance analysis and risk management; 
  • Enhance the skills and capacity of management in using and interpreting ratios, analysing financial trends, positioning themselves within the sector and identifying key areas of risk to mitigate;
  • Sensitize microinsurers about the importance of performance monitoring as a tool for their daily management, decision-making and business planning process; and
  • Promote  transparency and  exchange of experiences between participating microinsurers

 

The course outline is as follows: 

  • Microinsurance Performance Analysis: General Overview
  • Financial statements for Microinsurance
  • Measuring Performance in Microinsurance: The Nine Key Principles
  • Measuring Performance in Microinsurance: The Ten Key Indicators
  • The Microinsurance Factsheet : Calculate Ratios and Create Graphs
  • Interpretation of Indicators and Correlations

 

The toolkit (handbook and microinsurance factsheet) will be circulated for free to all participants.

 

The participant must have the following profile: 

  • English proficiency
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in providing microinsurance (cooperative, MFI, insurance company, etc.)
  • Financial or general decision maker, managerial level
  • Good understanding of accounting terms and financial statements

 

Participation requirements: 

  • Payment of 100 € registration fee
  • Meals will be provided during the workshop and the organisers cover accommodation costs from 19 to 21 July 2011, for max. 4 nights.  
  • Any additional nights and travel costs to and from the workshop venue, and its organisation, are under the responsibility of the participant.

 

Registration is closed since 24 June 2011. Applicants will be informed about their acceptance to the workshop.
